Lesotho - a short excursion into the kingdom in the sky

Yann and his family lived from 1978 to 1982 in Lesotho. So here we go and make a detour to Butha Buthe, the village where they stayed 4 years. Following a catchup with history we visit Tse'hlanyane (yes, how do you say that word again?) national parc.

First impression of Lesotho, kingdom in the sky.
Butha Buthe, back after 30 years.

The house where Yann lived during 4 years. Still there but a little bit run down.
Lots of Basutho are still very poor.
Main street in Butha Buthe.
We walk by this "natural healer", accompanied by a Mosutho lady.
"Does this help?" we ask.
"You have to believe it does."
"Do you sometime go here?"
"No, never!" and she laughs."
Rain-storm, take cover. Or you can use a plastic wrapping...
Center of attention again.
This traditional dress is too small, the other one too big. And Yann thinks it looks like a dish-cloth anyway...
Hopefully she does her job well!
Zanzibar is not on the coast of the Indian Ocean, it's in Lesotho.
Lovely bar name. No swahili architecture to be seen.

Out of date as you can see on the next picture...
Who is the tourist here? Everyone has a cellphone.
Walk barefoot, your shoes are going to last longer.
Tse'hlanyane NP, everything is beautifully green and our hearts rejoice in the landscape. Not flat anymore.

No bike, no shoes, but cold mountain water after 1 day of rain.

A small snake on the footpath.
After some nice hours of hiking we return to our base camp. We feel tired but satisfied. Only the day after we feel that our legs are more used to cycling than to walking, very, very bad muscle ache. After three days our legs are finally recovering and we can walk normally again. During these days none of us wanted to make a break, it was definitely easier to pedal than to walk...
Back in to civilization...

"Give me sweets.. ", the most heard sentence along the road.
In Lesotho the sky is of a deep beautiful blue.
