Visa extension - a comedy in 4 acts

Arriving in El Kharga, we know we can and have to extend our visa. We have met Mr. Mohsen, a very friendly man, working at the tourist office in El Kharga, who is more than willing to help us with the visa extension issue.

Day one:
1. 2.45 pm, we call Mr. Mohsen who tells us that the visa extension office is just behind the big building opposite the tourist information office. Off we ride with our bicycles to find the office ...closed at 3pm! BACK TO THE HOTEL!

2. We call Mr. Mohsen who does a couple of calls and tells us to show up at the petrol station. A friend of his is going to help us out. We arrive at the petrol station and the friend is not to be seen. BACK TO THE HOTEL!

3. We call Mr. Mohsen who organizes another person who is going to pick us up at the hotel at 7 pm to drive us to the police station / visa extension office to help us out. The person picks us up at 7pm precisely, drives us to the (closed) visa extension office then to the tourist police who cannot help us further. We postpone the whole issue to the next morning. BACK TO THE HOTEL!

Day two:
4. At 9am we show up at the (open) visa extension office and have our visas extended by 11.30 am. This mainly again to Mr. Mohsen who helped translating between the clerk and us on the phone!

BACK TO THE HOTEL!  ;-)

Thank you Mr. Mohsen for all your help!
